Tourist InfoMore information on Buenos AiresWhere does Buenos Aires stand? The Autonomous City of Buenos Aires is the capital city of the Republic of Argentina. It is located in the Southern Hemisphere of the American Continent and its population stands above 15 million inhabitants, which makes it one of the ten more densely populated urban centers in the world. Towards the East and the South, the Río de la Plata and the Riachuelo comprise Buenos Aires natural limits. The rest of the metropolitan perimeter is flanked by the General Paz Avenue, that represents the limits of the City from North to West and connects in a rapid way the City with the suburbs, the Gran Buenos Aires. ClimateAnnual average temperatures vary around 18º centigrades, so extremely cold or hot days are not frequent, and it is possible to go for a walk around the City at all seasons. In winter, the coldest month is July, with average temperatures around 3º and 8º, but frosts are rare. In winter one usually goes out with wool coats, jackets or overcoats and scarfs. During summer, the heat is humid and the average temperature is 28°. At night, temperatures slightly decrease, and people wear light clothes, without need of wearing coats. The annual average rainfall is 1.146 mm. Fall and Spring are the months when it rains the most. During hot months, rains are brief or mere drizzles; it is unlikely that they impede the normal development of activities and people may just wear slight clothes and raincoat or umbrellas. AccomodationsBuenos Aires’ big capacity to provide accomodations to visitors is reflected in its more than 450 establishments, 25,500 rooms and 52,000 beds. TransportationTourists who arrive from the Provinces land at Jorge Newbery Airport, located at the North Riverside Path of the City (Costanera Norte), five minutes away from town. From Jorge Newbery Airport planes take off headed to the Provinces and neighboring countries. Visitors coming from other parts of the world land at the International Airport of Ezeiza, located fifteen minutes from the center of the City, by highway. Exchange RateThe Argentina is governed by an exchange system favorable to foreign tourism. Foreign currencies can be traded at exchange offices and banks. Many shops in Buenos Aires accept credits cards, dollars, euros, pesos and travellers’ checks. |
